Planning a wedding is likely the first time you’ve ever had to book a wedding florist, so if you’re wondering where to start, you’re definitely not alone. From understanding budgets to knowing when to inquire, there are so many questions couples don’t even know to ask.
At Petále Haus, we specialize in artistic, garden-inspired floral design for weddings and events throughout Texas. Every wedding we design is completely custom, rooted in seasonality, color theory, and sculptural floral artistry. If you’re beginning your search for a florist, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know before reaching out.

One of the biggest mistakes couples make is reaching out to a florist before they’ve secured their wedding date and venue.
While every planning journey looks a little different, we generally recommend hiring your wedding planner first. Your planner becomes the foundation of your vendor team, helping you establish your vision, priorities, and overall budget before bringing in your creative partners.
From there, your next priority should be securing your wedding venue. Once your date and venue are officially booked, it’s the perfect time to begin searching for your florist and photographer.
Although many couples begin researching florists before choosing a venue (and we encourage that!), we ask that you wait to submit an inquiry until your venue and date are confirmed. Your venue is one of the most influential factors in your floral design. It informs everything from installation logistics and delivery timing to ceiling heights, ceremony layouts, architectural details, existing color palettes, lighting, and the floral designs that will feel most intentional within the space.
At Petále Haus, we recommend reaching out at least 9–12 months before your wedding. Because we take on a limited number of full-service weddings each season, inquiring early gives us the opportunity to thoughtfully develop your design and reserve your date.
Before you inquire, it’s helpful to have:
The more information you can provide, the more personalized and accurate your proposal will be from the very beginning.
Before you begin searching for a wedding florist, it’s helpful to have a general floral budget in mind. While every wedding is unique, having an investment range allows your florist to create a proposal that aligns with both your vision and your priorities.
At Petále Haus, our full-service wedding floral designs begin at $7,000. Because every proposal is custom, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all price. Your final investment depends on several factors, including your guest count, venue, floral priorities, and the overall scope of the design.
One of the biggest misconceptions we see is that floral pricing is based solely on the flowers themselves. In reality, several elements influence the overall investment.
The most significant factor is guest count. More guests typically mean more dining tables, centerpieces, candles, vessels, and labor. As your guest count increases, your floral budget should grow as well to maintain a cohesive, elevated design throughout the entire celebration.
Another major factor is flower selection. Some couples prioritize locally grown, seasonal blooms, while others dream of imported specialty flowers sourced from around the world. Imported flowers often come with higher product and freight costs, while seasonal, locally grown flowers can offer incredible beauty and value when they’re naturally in bloom. Neither option is “better”—it simply depends on the look you’re hoping to achieve and your overall investment.
Other factors that influence pricing include:
Our goal isn’t simply to fill a room with flowers—it’s to create a cohesive floral experience that feels intentional from the moment your guests arrive until the last dance. Every proposal is thoughtfully tailored to your celebration, ensuring the design reflects your vision while meeting the level of artistry and quality that defines Petále Haus.
Pinterest is one of our favorite tools for gathering inspiration. It gives us a glimpse into what you’re naturally drawn to and helps us begin understanding your aesthetic.
However, it’s important to remember that Pinterest rarely tells the whole story. Many of the weddings you see online feature editorial photo shoots, destination weddings, luxury floral budgets, or even AI-generated inspiration. While these images are incredibly helpful for communicating your style, they don’t necessarily reflect what a design costs—or whether it’s the right fit for your wedding.
Rather than recreating Pinterest image for image, we use it as a design tool. During the proposal process, we carefully study your inspiration and look for recurring themes. Maybe you’re consistently saving sculptural arrangements, soft movement, monochromatic color palettes, or organic garden-style florals. We also ask why you’re drawn to certain images. Is it the color? The emotion? The scale? The architecture? The feeling the space evokes?
From there, we interpret those patterns into a floral design that feels authentic to you—one that reflects your personalities, complements your venue, embraces the season, and works harmoniously with your wedding’s color palette and overall design. The result isn’t a copy of someone else’s wedding—it’s a celebration that feels entirely your own.
When you begin to find a wedding florist, don’t rely solely on Instagram.
Take time to explore their website, portfolio, blog, and client reviews.
Ask yourself:
You’ll spend months working closely with your florist, so finding someone whose communication style and creative approach fit your vision is just as important as loving their flowers.
At Petále Haus, every wedding begins with a conversation.
First, you’ll complete our inquiry form with your wedding details, venue, guest count, estimated floral budget, and inspiration images. The more information you share, the better we can begin understanding your vision.
From there, we’ll schedule a consultation to discuss your priorities, overall aesthetic, color palette, and floral goals. This is where we start getting to know you as a couple and uncover what truly matters most for your celebration.
Following our consultation, we’ll create a custom design preview tailored specifically to your wedding. This includes an initial design direction that reflects our conversation and gives you a glimpse into the creative vision we’re developing together.
Unlike many studios, we don’t provide fully developed floral proposals before booking. Our complete proposals include curated flower recipes, custom renderings, installation concepts, and detailed design plans that often take weeks—or even months—to thoughtfully develop. Rather than creating generic proposals, we reserve that level of creative investment for our booked couples so we can dedicate the time and attention each wedding deserves.
Once you’re ready to move forward, your date is officially reserved with a signed contract and retainer.
From there, the real design process begins. As your guest count, linens, rentals, floor plans, and other wedding details become finalized, we’ll continue refining every aspect of your floral proposal. Flower selections, recipes, renderings, installations, and mechanics are thoughtfully curated throughout the planning process, ensuring the final design feels cohesive, intentional, and uniquely yours by the time your wedding day arrives.
Wedding flowers are about so much more than blooms.
When you hire a floral design studio, you’re investing in months of planning, sourcing, flower conditioning, color curation, custom mechanics, transportation, installation, styling, candle service and strike.
Every bouquet, centerpiece, and installation is carefully designed to transform your venue into an unforgettable experience.
While the flowers may only last for a weekend, the memories—and the photographs—will last a lifetime.
If you’re ready to book a wedding florist who believes flowers should feel artistic, intentional, and deeply personal, we’d love to hear your story.
At Petále Haus, we create custom floral experiences inspired by nature, seasonality, and sustainable, foam-free design—ensuring every wedding reflects the people at the heart of it.
